October Wrap-Up

Hello everyone!

I can’t believe that October is over, where did the month go?

This month wasn’t a great reading month for me, but I did manage to finish a few books, and I became invested in a series of graphic novels. I also managed to add a lot of books to my library, thanks to Book Outlet and all of the amazing books that were released this month. So, without further ado, let’s get this wrap-up started!

Books I Finished:

Chaotic Good by Whitney Gardner

This book was amazing! I wrote a review a few posts back, and right now it looks like it might be one of my favourite reads of the year.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

This was a reread for me, and I enjoyed it more the second time around. The book is creepy, and I’m glad that I didn’t read it as a child because the button eyes would have given me nightmares. If you haven’t read it before, I recommend you pick it up if you’re in the mood for something spooky.  img_4407

Fables Volume 1: Legends in Exile by Bill Willingham

After I finished Chaotic Good, I decided that I needed to go to the comic book store. While there, I decided that I should pick out a graphic novel, so I could try reading something new. I noticed Fables on the shelf, I decided to buy it and bring it home, and now I’m hooked. If you’re a fan of retellings and fairy tales, you need to give this series a try.

Fables Volume 3: Storybook Love by Bill Willingham

Book Haul:

I bought way too many books this month, and to justify my purchases, I’ve decided to break them up into categories. I had a haul from Book Outlet, where I picked up some hardcover books for super cheap; a bunch of pre-orders that all happened to be released in October; and then the other books that I picked up.

Book Outlet Haul:

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller

Warcross by Marie Lu

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

Pre-Orders:

Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich

I am so excited to read this book, I’ve been obsessed with the soundtrack for months, and I hope the book is just as amazing.

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

I started reading this book, and so far I’m disappointed. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to finish it soon and that I start enjoying it more.

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You by Lin Manuel Mirandaimg_4401

This book is amazing! I haven’t read it cover to cover, but when I’m feeling sad, I open it up and read a random page or two, and it makes everything in the world feel right again.

Other:

French Exit by Patrick deWitt

Less by Andrew Sean Greer

The Defective by Ryan Jones

If you haven’t heard of this book, go check it out! Ryan, aka biblio.virgo, is amazing, and I can’t wait to read her debut novel.
