Top Ten Tuesday – Books I’m Thankful For

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is a Thanksgiving freebie and I decided to make a list of ten books I’m thankful for.

img_26311) A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket: This is the series that made me fall in love with reading. Even though I’m disgusted by the actions of Daniel Handler, I can’t forget about this series because it opened my eyes to the wonderful world of books.

img_34642) Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling: This series will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s the first magical world that I fell in love with and Hogwarts feels like home. I will always be thankful for the characters and for the wizarding world and for all the joy and happiness it has brought me.

img_46143) A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle: I included this book on the list because it’s one of my favourites and because I love Meg Murray. She’s a reminder to never give up and that flaws are okay.

img_20064) The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: I included this book on the list because I’m thankful for t he characters and the memorable lines in it. It’s a reminder that things change and that life goes on.

img_45945) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams: I had to include this book on this list because I’m thankful for all of the joy it’s brought me over the years. I love the humour in this book and I love celebrating Towel Day every year on May 25th.

img_28296) The Best Laid Plans by Terry Fallis: This book made the list because it introduced me to one of my favourite authors. Terry Fallis has brought me countless hours of joy and I’m thankful for his quirky plots and unique characters.

img_23657) Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: I included this book on the list because I’m thankful for Cath. She’s a character that I’m able to relate to because I was incredibly awkward in my first year of University. I’m also thankful for Levi, for being the perfect book boyfriend.

img_35038) Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson: This book made the list because I’m thankful for The Bloggess. The Bloggess is wonderful and she’s a reminder that mental illness is okay and it’s nothing to be ashamed about.

img_17269) A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro: I included this book on the list because it got me out of one of the worst reading slumps I’ve ever had. There was something about Jamie and Charlotte that made me want to read again and it was nice to finally break out of the slump.

img_422110) Chaotic Good by Whitney Gardner: I decided to include this book on the list because it’s a reminder to keep creating, even if people are trying to bring you down. It also made me want to explore the comic book store, which introduced me to Fables, which is my new obsession.
