This week’s Top Five Wednesday theme is fictional food that you’d want at a holiday party. Surprisingly, I had a difficult time thinking of food for this list because I couldn’t remember specific food items from my favourite books. Fortunately, the Internet exists, and I was able to refresh my memory enough to pick some delicious sounding items for this list.

1) The Turkey Dinner from Still Life with Louise Penny: I think this is technically cheating because I’m talking about an entire meal, but I don’t care. I’m a little foggy on the details, but in Still Life, there’s some sort of holiday meal and, like in all of Penny’s books, the description of the food sounds amazing. If you haven’t read anything by Louise Penny before, I highly recommend you check her out because every time she talks about food, it leaves me hungry.

2) Levi’s Pumpkin Mocha Breve from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: Could I really make a list of fictional food without including this delicious sounding beverage? I love pumpkin flavoured things, I love mochas, and I’m pretty sure breve is another word for a fancy espresso-based beverage that I don’t understand, but overall it sounds delicious.

3) Chocolate Chiffon Cake from Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan: Crazy Rich Asians features a lot of delicious sounding food, and it was hard to pick a single item to include on this list. I decided to go with the chocolate chiffon cake because I love all things chocolate and this cake sounds decadent and perfect.

4) Treacle Tart from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling: I had to look up what a treacle tart was because all I could remember was that it was a dessert from Harry Potter. After looking it up, I discovered that it’s similar to a butter tart, and I think that’s amazing. I love butter tarts, and I would love to have the treacle tart served at Hogwarts.

5) The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy describes this drink as the best drink in existence, and even though I prefer a simple glass of wine, it would be fun to say I tried it. I don’t know if this is a good choice for a holiday party, but depending on the guest list, it could be a necessity to get through it.
