Top Ten Tuesday – Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is most anticipated releases for the first half of 2019, and I had a difficult time picking ten books to include on this list because, in an effort to protect my bank account, I try not to pay too much attention to what books are coming out. Fortunately, Goodreads exists, so I was able to do some browsing, and I found ten books that are coming out in the first half of 2019 that I would like to add to my collection.

January 8, 2019 – The Field Guide to the North American Teenager by Ben Philippe: This book is a 2019 debut, and it sounds like it could be a funny and memorable read. The premise of the book sounds like a lot of fun, and I’m hoping that this book doesn’t disappoint.

 

 

January 15, 2019 – Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills: Even though I haven’t read anything by Emma Mills yet, I decided to include this book on the list because I love the inlays on her hardcover books. I also decided to include this book because it sounds like a cute contemporary read and the synopsis mentions country music.

 

January 22, 2019 – The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson: I’m looking forward to this book coming out because it means I can finally read Truly Devious. I picked up Truly Devious shortly after it was released because it sounded like something I would enjoy. I was planning on reading it last year, but then I saw people say that it ended on a huge cliff-hanger and I decided that I should wait for the sequel to come out to save myself from unnecessary pain and suffering. If all goes as planned, I should be reading Truly Devious soon, and then I’ll be able to dive into The Vanishing Stair right away.

February 12, 2019 – Queen to Ashes by Mallory McCartney: I’ve been a fan of Mallory McCartney since I read Black Dawn last year. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in the world she created, and what happens to my favourite characters.

 

 

March 5, 2019 – A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro: I absolutely love the Charlotte Holmes books, and I can’t wait for this book to be released. I want to know what happens next with Jamie and Charlotte and what kind of trouble they find themselves in while in England. I’m so excited for this book that I’m planning on pre-ordering it, so I can dive into it as soon as possible.

 

April 2, 2019 – The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston: I absolutely loved Geekerella, and I can’t wait to read this companion novel. The plot sounds like a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to venturing back to the world of fandoms and comic-cons. This book also looks like it’s going to be diverse, which makes me even more excited to read it.

 

April 16, 2019 – All for One by Melissa de la Cruz: The only reason why I included this book on the list is that I wanted to pick ten books. Alex and Eliza and Love and War are sitting on my shelf unread, and I have no idea when I’m going to get to them. I want to read them this year because I’m Hamiltrash, but I don’t know when I’ll get around to them. I have a feeling though that once I do read them, I’ll be rushing out to get my hands on All for One because even though I know how it all ends, I want to know how it all ends.

April 30, 2019 – Hot Dog Girl by Jennifer Dugan: This is another 2019 debut that I’m looking forward to reading. I stumbled upon it when I signed up for NetGalley, and I fell in love with the synopsis. I didn’t request an ARC of this book because I don’t think I’m ready to start requesting ARCs, but I’m tempted to try just because this book sounds wonderful. I love that it takes place at a carnival and I think it sounds like the perfect summer read.

May 7, 2019 – Finale by Stephanie Garber: Even though I haven’t read Legendary yet, I’m still looking forward to Finale. At this point, I’m planning on rereading Caraval at the beginning of May and then diving into Legendary and Finale right after. The other reason why I’m looking forward to this book is that I can’t wait to see what the inlays on the UK hardcover editions will look like and if they’ll be as stunning as the first two books.  

 

May 7, 2019 – Again, But Better by Christine Riccio: This is another 2019 debut that piqued my curiosity. I tend to like contemporaries that take place in college, and this book sounds right up my alley. The main character sounds like someone I’ll be able to relate to, and I can’t wait to read it to find out if I’m right.
