Top Five Wednesday was created by Lainey. Every Wednesday there’s a new topic, and you get to list your top 5 books that apply to that topic. For more information, or to join in on the fun, check out the Goodread’s Group.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I talked about some of my most anticipated releases, and today I’m going to talk about some hyped releases that I really don’t care about.

the wicked kingJanuary 8, 2019 – The Wicked King by Holly Black: This book technically came out yesterday, but I’m including it on the list anyway. The reason why I included this book is that I haven’t read The Cruel Prince yet. I want to read The Cruel Prince at some point because it sounds like a good book, but realistically I know that I might not ever get to it, especially because fantasy is a genre that I tend to struggle with.

king of scarsJanuary 29, 2019 – King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo: I’m including this book on the list because I haven’t read any books that take place in the Grishaverse yet. I have Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom sitting on my shelf, and I’m sure that once I read them, I’ll be rushing to the store to buy this book, but at the point, I’m too far behind to be excited about its upcoming release.

covavMarch 5, 2019 – Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi: When Children of Blood and Bone came out, I thought the cover looked cool, but the plot didn’t interest me. There were a few times that I considered picking it up, but I decided against it because I knew it would sit unread on my shelf for years. At this point, I don’t see myself ever picking up Children of Blood and Bone or Children of Virtue and Vengeance, just because I have so many other books to read and I don’t have time to read books that don’t interest me.

supermanMarch 5, 2019 – Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Pena: The reason why I’m including this book on this list is that superheroes aren’t my thing. I’ll watch the occasional Marvel movie because they’re funny and the cast is made up of actors and actresses that I like, but overall, I’ve never been a fan of superheroes. Even though I like the idea behind the DC Icons series, I can’t get excited about them.

April 2, 2019 – Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi: This is yet another book that I’m including because I suck at reading popular series. I’ve had my eye on Shatter Me for months now, but realistically I know I’ll probably never get to it, and that’s why this book is on my list.

As you can see, most of the books on this list are sequels or parts of series that I haven’t read. Do you recommend that I check out any of these series? What are some hyped releases that you aren’t excited about?
