I’ve been quiet on here the past month, but I needed some time to collect my thoughts and to figure out what’s next with my blogging adventure. As of right now, I don’t have any concrete answers to that question, but I am hoping to start posting regularly.
April was an amazing reading month for me. I somehow managed to read seven books, which feels like a personal record. Three of the books I read were ARCs that I received from Net Galley, which is amusing because two months ago I was scared to request books because I didn’t think I’d be selected to review them.
My favourite read this month was The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston, but, Can’t Beat the Chemistry by Kat Colmer was a close second.
I’m also proud to say that I only purchased one book this month, which is a blessing to my wallet and my overflowing TBR pile.
Books I Finished:
The Princess and the Fangirlby Ashley Poston:This was one of my most anticipated books of 2019, and it did not disappoint. It was an ode to fans everywhere, and I loved every minute of it. Just thinking about the book makes my fangirl heart scream with joy. Overall, I gave this book 5/5 stars, and I hope to have a review up soon.
Mr. Finchley Discovers His England by Victor Canning: This is an ARC that I received from Net Galley, and if you’re interested you can check out my review here! This was a fun little read, full of an older, more gentle kind of humour. This book features an eclectic cast of characters, and it left me curious enough to want to check out books number 2 and 3. Overall, I gave it 3.5/5 stars.
Can’t Beat the Chemistry by Kat Colmer:This is an ARC that I received from Net Galley, and if you’re interested you can check out my review here! I absolutely loved this book, and I cannot recommend it enough. I loved the two main characters, and I loved how this book was so much more than the bad boy and good girl falling in love. Overall, I gave this book 5/5 stars.
The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory: I picked up this book because the idea of a stadium proposal being rejected has always brought me an awkward sort of joy. This book was like reading a rom-com, and I loved it. It had moments that made me laugh-out-loud, a strong leading lady, and food descriptions that made me hungry. Overall, I gave this book 4/5 stars, and I hope to have a review up soon.
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan: I ended up liking this book more than I thought I would. I loved getting to know Rachel and Nick more and getting to dive back into the world of high fashion and crazy spending. I liked that this book focused in on some of the other characters, and I especially liked Astrid and Kitty. If you read Crazy Rich Asians, and you aren’t sure if you should continue reading the trilogy, I highly recommend picking up this second books. Overall, I gave this book 4/5 stars, and I hope to have a review up soon.
Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan: This final installment of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy did not disappoint. It featured all my favourite characters and some who I couldn’t stand. It was full of drama and suspense, and there were some parts that had me on the edge of my seat. I also think that this book had the perfect ending. Overall, I gave this book 4/5 stars, and I hope to have a review up soon.
Things My Son Needs to Know About the World by Fredrik Backman: This is an ARC that I received from Net Galley, and if you’re interested you can check out my review here! This was a funny, insightful, and heartfelt book of essays and lessons that the author wants to pass on to his infant son when he grows up. Underneath all the humour in this book is a reminder of the important things in life. Overall, I gave this book 4/5 stars!
