#SixforSunday – Recent Additions to Your TBR

Six for Sunday Recent TBR Banner

Hello Everyone and Happy Easter!

#SixforSunday is hosted by A Little But A Lot and each week, there’s a different prompt, and you list six books that fit the prompt. The theme for April is Taking on the TBR pile.

This week’s #SixforSunday prompt is Recent Additions to your TBR. I started this year vowing that I would cut back on buying books and that I would focus on the books on my shelves. Then I found an unused Indigo card in my wallet, so naturally, I had to buy some books. Then Book Outlet had a sale, and I decided that I should treat myself during this stressful time of self-isolation and social distancing. Then my Dad asked me if I could pre-order him the new John Grisham book, and somehow a few other titles ended up in my cart. My point is, my book buying ban isn’t going too well, and my TBR keeps growing, and here are six recent additions to it.

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett: This book was part of my Book Outlet haul. I asked some people on Bookstagram if they had any YA contemporary recommendations, and one person started raving about Jenn Bennett. Fortunately, Book Outlet had a lot of Jenn Bennett books to choose from, and this is the one that I’m most looking forward to reading because the main character loves mystery novels, and I love bookish main characters.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle: This book was released last week, and I’ve seen it everywhere! This book features a couple trying to annoy each other enough to force the other one to call off the wedding. It sounds like it’s full of fun shenanigans and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

The Matchmaker’s List by Sonya Lalli: I’ve had my eye on this book for a while now, and when I saw it on Book Outlet, I had to pick it up. The premise sounds fun, and I like books that have some sort of family aspect in them. Right now, I also need as many fluffy, feel-good, romance stories as possible, because they’re keeping me sane during this strange time.

The Perfect Escape by Suzanne Park: This is another new release that I’ve seen everywhere! I don’t know much about this book, but I know that it features two teens who work at a zombie-themed escape room and the forced proximity trope. I’ve read a lot of great YA romances this year, and I’m hoping I can add this one to the list.

Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J. Christopher: I picked up this book with the surprise Indigo card I found in my wallet. It was sitting on a display table with a bunch of other romantic comedies, and when I found out that it was a modern twist on How to Love a Guy in 10 Days, I knew I had to read it. I also really love the cover of this book, and I have to admit, I love the bright colours on romance novels trend that is happening right now.

Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore: This is another book that I keep on seeing people raving about. It’s a historical romance, which isn’t something that I’ve read much of, but I’m interested in checking out. I’m in love with the cover (because of course, I am), and the premise sounds great. I love books that feature strong female characters, and it looks like the main character in this book is going to be pretty awesome.

How about you? What are some recent additions to your TBR?

  1. I’ve had Serious Moonlight on my TBR forever, but it has one of my favorite covers on a contemporary novel! Such a great color scheme!
