Hello everyone!
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Bionic Bookworm! If you’re interested in participating, check out her wonderful blog to get the details and the prompts for each week!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday prompt is Popular Books I Haven’t Read Yet, and there are a lot of books that I could have included on this list. I spend a lot of time on bookstagram, and I tend to add the hyped books to my neverending TBR. I decided only to pick standalone books for this list because next week’s topic is about series, and I don’t want to be too repetitive.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller: This is the first book that came to mind when I saw this prompt. I’ve seen The Song of Achilles everywhere, and I haven’t picked it up yet. Honestly, I’m a little bit scared to pick this book up because I’ve heard that it’s the kind of book that rips your heart out and stomps on it, and I’m not sure if I’m ready to be emotionally destroyed by a book anytime soon.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline: This book has been on my TBR since the movie came out a few years ago. I told my boyfriend that I would read this book as soon as possible so we could watch the movie together, but apparently as soon as possible hasn’t happened yet. I keep on saying that I’ll get to this book soon, because I am interested in the premise, but I don’t know when I’ll pick it up.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang: Last year, I got super into romance books, and this is probably the most popular one that I haven’t gotten to yet. I see it on all sorts of “must-read romance” lists, and it’s been sitting on my shelf, just taunting me to pick it up. I keep on telling myself that I’ll pick it up soon, but then I get distracted by ARCs and shiny new releases.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman: After reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane, I decided that I was super interested in Neil Gaiman, and I started collecting his books. I have a huge stack of them, but I’ve only read a few of the ones I have. I’ve had a few people recommend Neverwhere to me, but I just haven’t picked it up yet because fantasy isn’t a genre that I read very often.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia: I picked up this book shortly after it was released because so many people were talking about how much they loved it. I’ve picked it up a few times since then, with the intention of reading it, but then I got distracted by other books. I think what I might have to do is pick this book as a prompt for a readathon or something, so I can actually knock it off of my TBR.
