#SixForSunday – Books On My TBR Because of Someone’s Recommendation

Six for Sunday Recommended TBR Banner

Hello Everyone!

#SixforSunday is hosted by A Little But A Lot, and each week, there’s a different prompt, and you list six books that fit the prompt. The theme for April is Taking on the TBR pile.

This week’s #SixForSunday prompt is books that are on your TBR because of someone else’s recommendation. I had a tough time thinking of six books for this prompt, because a lot of the books on my TBR have been added because of general hype, and not necessarily from specific recommendations. Fortunately for this list, I was able to think of some specific recommendations!

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle: This book was recommended to me by one of my fellow bookstagrammers. I was in a group chat with a few people, and one of the people had just finished reading an ARC of this book, and they were raving about how much they enjoyed it. I immediately added it to my TBR on Goodreads, and I’m looking forward to reading it later this month.

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett: This book was recommended to me by the same person who recommended You Deserve Each Other. I had just finished reading The Upside of Falling (you can read my review here), and I was looking for other YA contemporaries to check out. This person started talking about how much they loved Jenn Bennett, and they specifically mentioned that they really enjoyed Starry Eyes. Fortunately for me, Book Outlet had a few of her books, so I picked them up at a discount!

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas: This book is on my TBR because my best friend from University recommended it to me. She read it and loved it, and every time I talk to her about planning my monthly TBR, she mentions that I still haven’t read this one yet. I promise that I will get to this one eventually though, I just don’t know when.

Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi: This is another one that my best friend from University recommended to me. She read this book when she worked at Indigo, and she loved it, which is surprising because she’s not the biggest fan of YA contemporaries. After she recommended it, I ordered it online, but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke: When I was in grade six, our teacher started reading this book to the class. I immediately fell in love with the story, and I made my dad go out and buy me a copy because the pace of one chapter every few days wasn’t working for me. My best friend from elementary school recently reread this book, and she told me that I should also reread it because it’s just that good.

This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper: This is another book that I’ve already read, but a friend of mine recently read it, and listening to her talk about it makes me want to reread it. I don’t remember much of what happened in this book, but I remember laughing a lot while reading it. Given everything that’s going on in the world right now, I think we could all use a few laughs, and I’m thinking of bumping this book up on my TBR.

How about you? What books are on your TBR because someone recommended them to you?
