Today’s Top 5 Tuesday prompt is Cute Romances, which is a perfect topic for me because I love cute romances. I decided to stick to listing YA romances for this post because I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time talking about adult romance lately. Below are five of my favourite cute YA romances.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell:It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this book is at the top of my list of cute romances. Cath and Levi are one of my favourite OTPs, and I love everything about them. I love that their relationship started as a friendship, and then blossomed into something more, I love that they cared about each other, and I love that Levi brings Cath fancy coffee drinks.
Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli:I used to talk about this book all the time, but now it’s been a while since I’ve talked about this book. I included this book on the list because I think the anonymous email exchanges are super cute, and I like the idea of the mystery of who you’re falling in love with. I’m also including this book on the list because of the scene at the end on the Ferris Wheel, which is the best and cutest Ferris Wheel scene ever.
The Upside of Falling by Alex Light: I read this book a few weeks ago, and I still can’t get over how much I enjoyed it. This book features fake dating, which is something that I love, and I thought it was super cute in this book. I also love that Becca is a bookworm who is obsessed with romance novels and that Brett is a football player and a total cinnamon roll. Becca and Brett are one of my favourite fictional couples of 2020, and the cuteness in this book fills me with joy.
Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch:I love this book because it takes place in Italy, and it makes me want to eat all of the Italian food. I love the adventure that Lina and Ren go on in this book, and I love that their friendship turns into something more. Lina and Ren have so many cute moments together while they’re travelling around Italy, and these moments make you root for their friendship to become something more.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord:This was my first read of the year, and I’m still talking about it non-stop. One of the things that I love about this book is the different relationships Pepper and Jack have with each other: there’s the anonymous one, the online Twitter war one, and then their actual friendship that starts to form. I love how these different relationships make it feel like this book has the anonymous I don’t know who I’m falling for trope, enemies-to-lovers trope, and friends-to-lovers trope. This book is also full of grilled cheese and decadent baked goods, so what’s not to love?
How about you? What are some of your favourite cute romances?
