THREE THINGS ABOUT ME

I have a cat named Scamper. He’s black and white and has a lot of attitude. He just kicked me out of my spot while writing this, and now he’s giving me a dirty look for picking a different spot to sit in.

Last year I took up gardening as a hobby. I’m not the greatest at keeping things alive, but I do have a lot of planters, and I’m hoping I’ll have some success this year with the plants I put in the ground.

I like entertaining, but I’m introverted, and large groups of people exhaust me. I love picking a menu, cooking, baking, picking beverages, and putting effort into the presentation, but when it comes to the socializing part, I tap out way too quickly. Fortunately for my best friend and boyfriend, this means that our mini-book club has excellent snacks because it’s a scale of socializing that I can maintain.

ELARA’S QUESTIONS

Is there a fictional food or drink that you’ve always wanted to try?

There are a couple of fictional foods and drinks that I’ve always wanted to try! From Harry Potter, I’ve wanted to try butterbeer, cauldron cakes, and pumpkin pasties. I’ve also wanted to try a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, even though it would be a terrible idea.

If you could have one magical item from a book, what would it be?

I’ve always wanted a time turner from Harry Potter! I’d be able to get so much stuff done, and I might even be able to make a dent in my TBR with one!

Are there any non-bookish things you collect?

When I was younger, I collected Pokémon cards, and I still have binders full of complete (and almost complete) sets in binders. Right now, the only non-bookish thing I collect is food-themed Jellycat plushies. I didn’t intend to start collecting them, but I currently have an avocado, a cherry, and a piece of bread, and three feels like a collection.

Do you stay away from controversial authors’ books, or do you read them regardless?

I think I tend to stay away from controversial authors’ books. A lot of the time, I’m not interested in the book anyway, and I’m so behind with reading right now, that if it were a book that I was only sort of interested in, I wouldn’t miss it if I took it off of my TBR. If it turns out that a controversial author wrote something that I was really interested in, I might still read it, but I can’t say for sure because I can’t think of any authors that fit that category. There’s also a handful of classics that I still want to read, even though some controversy has popped up about the authors and the content of the books.

Would you still blog if you weren’t a book blogger?

Honestly, probably not. My life isn’t interesting to blog about, and even though I have other hobbies like cooking, baking, gardening, and wine, I don’t know enough about any of those things to create enough content to maintain a blog.
