Blueberry Muffins – A Book with the Perfect Beginning
The first book that popped into my head for this question was Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales because I am in love with its opening line. The first line of this book is: “It was late afternoon, on the very last Wednesday of August, when I realized Disney had been lying to me for quite some time about Happily Ever After.” Even though this isn’t the happiest of openings, I still think it’s a wonderful way to start a book.
Pumpkin Pie – A Perfect Holiday Book
I’m drawing a blank when it comes to holiday books right now, but after scanning my shelves, I’m going to pick To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I don’t remember very many details about this book, but I remember part of it taking place during the holiday season!
Cinnamon Rolls – A Smol Character Who Must Be Protected
Right now, my favourite cinnamon roll character is Brett Wells from The Upside of Falling by Alex Light! I don’t know how to explain why he’s a cinnamon roll, but he is one, and I want to give him a big hug and protect him from his family drama.
Lemon Meringue Pie – A Book with Total Summer Vibes
Unsurprisingly, I’m going to pick Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch for this question. This book immediately pops into my head when I think of summer; the travel, the romance, the gelato, it’s all perfect for the warm season!
Funfetti Cake – A Book that Makes You Feel Like a Kid
Every time I see Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, it gives me childhood flashbacks. I distinctly remember being a grumpy child when I found out that my dad had made plans for us to go to my aunt’s house for dinner on the day of the Deathly Hallows release. Fortunately, my aunt was an avid reader, so she didn’t mind that I had my nose in a book the entire time I was there.
Chocolate Chip Cookies – An Amazing Classic
Chocolate chip cookies are my favourite, and my favourite classic is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Oddly enough, the first time I read it, I wasn’t a huge fan, but then when I picked it up again two years later for an assignment, I fell in love with it.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies – A Book That Deserves More Love
I think that Suggested Reading by David Coonis deserves more love! It’s about a girl who runs a banned book library out of her locker, and it’s a wonderful read.
Angel Food Cake – A Book That’s Pure Air and Fluff
The first book that came to mind for this question was The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren! This is a fun, fluffy, contemporary romance novel, and it pairs perfectly with a nice day and a glass of wine.
Carrot Cake – A Book with a Good Message
I really like the feminist message in The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly by Jamie Pacton! I like the idea that anyone can be a knight and eliminating gender restrictions at all levels.
Macarons – A Book that was Intimidating
This might sound silly, but I was intimidated by Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I don’t know if it was the size of the book, or it’s huge fandom, but I put off reading it for a long time. I finally picked up this book last month, and I’m happy to say that it’s a quick read, despite the size.
Egg Tarts – An Amazing Diverse Book
For this question, I’m going to pick The Wedding Date series by Jasmine Guillory. This series features a diverse cast of characters, and they’re a lot of fun to read!
Banana Bread – A Book with a lot of Hype
I’m terrible when it comes to reading hyped books; I tend to put them off forever. One book that I read when it was still getting a lot of hype was The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. In my opinion, this book was worth all of the hype, and it was incredibly enjoyable to read!
