Hello Everyone!

It’s Thursday, which means that it’s tag day! Deanna at The Comfy Reader tagged me to the Summer Vibes Book Tag (which she created!), and this week feels like the perfect week to do it. Right now, we’re in the middle of a heatwave, and the weather is making me nostalgic for typical summer things. Hopefully, next summer, things will look a little bit more normal, but for now, staying safe and keeping other people safe is the main priority.

The Beach: A Book Set Somewhere Tropical

The first book that came to mind when I saw this question was The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren because it involves a trip to Hawaii. The cover of this book also screams tropical, with the toucan and hibiscus on the cover.

Music Festival: A Book with a Focus on Music

Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch isn’t necessarily about music, but the final destination on their epic road trip is a music festival. One of the characters is also a music blogger, and the road trip is inspired by an indie band.

Watermelon: A Book with a Juicy Secret

I had to think about this question for a while, and I eventually picked What I Like About You by Marisa Kanter. In this book, Halle is keeping her online blogger persona a secret from Nash, and the stress of keeping the secret causes quite a few problems throughout the story.

Water Park: A Book Set Near or on The Water

This tag is making me realize that I need to read more summery books because I’ve been struggling to pick books for a lot of these questions. For this question, I’m going to go with Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales because the summer flashbacks take place at a cottage near some lake.

Ice Cream: A Book or Genre That is a Guilty Pleasure

I don’t like the phrase “guilty pleasure” when it comes to reading, because I don’t think anyone should feel guilty about reading. That being said, if I had to pick a “guilty pleasure” book, it would be the Hercule Poirot books by Agatha Christie. I rarely rate these books above three stars, but I keep on reading them because there’s something about Poirot that is incredibly entertaining.

Picnic with Friends: A Book About Friendship

I’m going to be cliché and pick Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne because the friendship between the occupants of the Hundred Acre Wood will always bring me joy.

Road Trip: A Book that Takes You on an Adventure

I thought that Magic Unleashed by Devri Walls was a wild ride from start to finish. Between being transported to a whole new world, going on a dangerous trek, meeting a ton of new species, and the epic fight scene, this book is perfect if you’re looking for a magical adventure.

Sunburn: A Book that you Regret Reading

I regret finishing My Summer of Love and Misfortune by Lindsay Wong. I couldn’t stand the main character, and it was obvious from the beginning that this book was not like the books it was compared to in the blurb. I finished the book because it was an ARC, but hindsight says I really should have DNFed it.

Summer Dress: A Book that is Light and Cute

I think that Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch is a light and cute book. It does have some more serious moments in it, but overall, the book screams summertime and fluffy reading.

Mosquito: A Book with an Annoying Character

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I spent most of This is Kind of an Epic Love Story by Kacen Callender being annoyed with the main character. I’m very tired of the “life isn’t like the movies and love doesn’t exist” trope, and I found him to be incredibly whiny at times, but the book was still enjoyable overall.
