Hello Everyone!
Today’s blog post is a little bit different, but it’s something that I’ve been working on for a while, and I’m very excited to announce it!
Are you overwhelmed by your TBR?
Did you buy more books this year than you read?
Are your bookshelves overcapacity and spilling over into any available space?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should check out the TBR Tackle Challenge!
The goal of the TBR Tackle Challenge is to read books that you already own. There will be a group chat for anyone interested, so we can talk about what we’re reading and encourage each other to meet our reading goals.
This challenge can be as laid back or intense as you want it to be. If you read one book a month, that’s great! If you read fifteen books a month, that’s also great! The goal is to read books that you own, and hopefully, we can encourage each other along the way.
Every month there will be at least five prompts to help you decide what to read, but the prompts are super optional. For example, if the prompt is “weapon on the cover,” you can either a) read a book with a weapon on the cover, b) ignore the prompt and read what you feel like, or c) draw a weapon on a sticky note and stick it on the cover. If you pick option “c,” please send me a picture of your drawing because I would love to see it.
Every month there will also be a weekend-long read-a-thon for anyone interested in squeezing in some extra pages before the month is over.
On Instagram, the TBR Tackle Challenge is hosted by myself (Books.Are.42), mystorynook, and theartsy_bookworm88. If you’re interested in joining the group chat on Instagram or if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to any of us, and we can help you out!
If people are interested, I’m also going to create a group chat for the TBR Tackle Challenge on Twitter because I know a lot of people prefer Twitter to Instagram. If you want to join the Twitter group chat, reach out to me in the comments here, or message me on Twitter!
Finally, the hashtag for the challenge is #TBRTackleChallenge! In theory, if you use this hashtag, we should see your posts about the challenge. In practice, I’m not sure how a hashtag works and what sort of magical witchcraft is behind whether a post actually shows up.
If all goes as planned, the January prompts will be posted on Saturday. In the meantime, if you have any questions or if you’re interested in joining, let me know!
This is a fun idea!
Thank you!
Such a brilliant idea, sounds like a lot of fun!
Thank you! Hopefully 2021 can be the year I get my TBR under control 😅
You’re welcome! 😂may have to join this challenge to control mine aswell tbh 😅 Good luck with wrangling your tbr! 💜
This is such a great idea! When I moved at the beginning of the year I only brought books with me I hadn’t read yet, and that helped a ton. But I still have like a thousand books on my shelves I need to read 😂
For the 80th year in a row, my goal is to get my TBR under control. This looks like it could really help! I’m in.

Finally joining. Hope this helps me get back on track. 🙂

[…] This challenge aims to help us readers to tackle our never-ending TBRs. To be honest, this is one of the hardest reading challenges I joined. Why, there’s no definite rule but to tackle our TBRs. And as readers and book bloggers, we know how hard it is to do just that. Like I said our TBRs are never-ending. But to make this challenge even more challenging, the hosts come up with 5 prompts each month, which I love. Here’s my SIGN-UP post if you want to track my progress with me and if you want to know more about this challenge, head over to THIS POST. […]
