Hello Everyone!

5 on my TBR is a weekly meme that’s hosted by Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Each Monday, there’s a different prompt, and the goal is to list five books on your TBR that fit into the prompt.

This week’s 5 on my TBR prompt is Graphic Novels. I’ve been slowly getting into graphic novels, and they keep jumping onto my TBR. I also really miss being able to go to my local comic book store and browsing, because I’ve discovered some great series that way. 

Fables by Bill Willingham – I discovered this series on one of my many trips to browse my local comic book store. The best way to describe this series is that it has a similar idea to the TV show Once Upon a Time (I haven’t watched OUAT, and this series came out before OUAT). It features a bunch of fairy tale characters who have been exiled and have set up a community in New York. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s a long series. I still need to finish this series, and I eventually want to get to all of the spinoff series.

Fence by C.S. Pascat – I’ve seen this one floating around Bookstagram for a while, and I desperately want to read it. I know absolutely nothing about fencing, and I’m not very into sports, but this series looks like a lot of fun. This series might end up on my February TBR because I ordered it with my Christmas gift cards, and I’m impatiently waiting for it to arrive.

Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu – This is another series that I’ve seen floating around on Bookstagram that I’ve decided that I need in my life. Once again, I am not a sports person, but, as a Canadian, I do appreciate a good hockey game. I don’t know much about this series, but I know it involves some romance and friendship, which I usually enjoy. It looks like this series is a duology, and I might try to pick it up once the comic book store is allowed to open up again.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North – Generally, I’m not into superheroes, but I adore this series. I picked up the first book after it was mentioned in a book that I was reading, and I fell in love with it. Squirrel Girl is such a fun character, and every time I pick up one of the books in this series, I can’t help but smile. So far, I’ve only read the first couple of volumes, and the rest of the series is on my TBR.

Cheshire Crossing by Andy Weir – I don’t remember how I heard about this book, but it sounds amazing. This book features Dorothy, Alice, and Wendy attending a boarding school where girls are sent to cope with their supernatural powers. The Goodreads description mentions The Wicked Witch, Hook, and a deadly supervillain love match, which sounds fantastic. I will say that I’m a bit nervous about this one because I’ve seen many mixed reviews for it, but when I get to it, I’m going to go in with an open mind.
