Four for Friday is a weekly list post that I am attempting to get off the ground. It’s tied to the TBR Tackle Challenge, which I co-host over on Instagram with the very lovely mystorynook and theartsy_bookworm88. Every week there’s a prompt, and you pick four books that fit the theme. You can find all of the July topics here!
This week’s Four for Friday topic is Stunning Hardcovers! I am a sucker for hardcover books with hidden surprises underneath the jacket, even though my wallet and shelves say that paperbacks are better.
Below are five hardcovers that I find absolutely stunning.
Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon – First of all, the colours on this cover are gorgeous, and they pair together perfectly. Teal is one of my favourite colours, and I love the bright pink flowers behind the title. I also love that underneath the jacket, there’s an inlay of Evie and X dancing, turning this stunning hardcover into something even more special.
Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston – I’m in love with both the North American and UK covers of this book, but I’m focusing on the North American edition for today’s post. Firstly, I love that Amari looks like such a badass on this cover. She has a fierce look in her eye, there’s magic all around her, and she looks ready to take on the world. I love the colours of the cover, and I think that the swirling magic draws you in. I also love that underneath the jacket of this edition is a handful of golden stars, adding another hint of magic to an already magical book.
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – There’s a lot of things to love about the cover of this book, but one of my favourite things is the wine-coloured background. I also love how detailed the cover is, from the individual petals of the flowers, the wax dripping on the candles, Yadriel’s necklace, and the details of the robe and the skeleton near the top. I also love that this book has a golden flower inlay underneath the jacket, making it extra special.
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson – The cover of Furiously Happy makes me furiously happy because what’s not to love about Rory the Raccoon? Rory the Raccoon looks so happy, even if he’s a bit creepy, and I can’t help but smile when I see this cover. What makes the hardcover edition of Furiously Happy even better is the little Rory inlay under the jacket.
