It’s Thursday, and I’m back to blogging, which means it’s tag day! This week I’m doing the Halloween Creatures Book Tag, which I was tagged to do by the very lovely Erika over at And On She Reads. I realize that Halloween was a few days ago, but I’m not ready to embrace the festive season, so let’s hold onto the spooky season for a little longer.

Witch – A Magical Character or Book
The first book that came to mind for this question was Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston! I was fortunate enough to read an ARC of this book last year, and I still can’t stop talking about how fantastic it is.
Werewolf – The Perfect Book to Read at Night
I do most of my reading at night, so I feel like all books are perfect for reading at night.
Frankenstein – A Book That Truly Shocked You
I can’t think of any books that truly shocked me, but Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon had a scene that made me throw my book down in a fit of rage, which feels kind of shocking?
The Devil – A Dark, Evil Character
The first character that came to mind for this question is the Other Mother from Coraline by Neil Gaiman. She is such a creepy and evil character, and thinking about her makes me slightly nervous.
Grim Reaper – A Character That Should Never Have Died
I don’t want to spoil anything by giving a specific answer for this question, but there’s one character in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson that fits this question.
Zombie – A Book That Made You Hungry for More
Most of the Rivers of London books by Ben Aaronovitch make me want to dive into the next book to find out what adventure Peter will go on next.
Gargoyle – A Character You Would Protect at All Costs
This might be a strange answer, but I think I would protect Greyson Hawthorne from The Inheritance Games Trilogy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I’m aware that he has the financial wherewithal to take care of himself, but he was the first character that came to mind that I felt slightly protective of.
Vampire – A Book That Sucked the Life Out of You
I’m going to interpret this question as a book that left me exhausted, and I’m going to pick Dial A For Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto, and I don’t mean this is a bad way. I enjoyed reading this book, but it was a whirlwind of shenanigans, which left me exhausted afterward.
Ghost – A Book That Still Haunts You
I am still haunted by The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I read this book years ago, and there are still lines from it that pop into my head periodically because this book is that amazing and memorable.
Demon – A Book That Really Scared You
As I mentioned before, I don’t really read dark or scary books, but if I have to answer this question, I’m going to pick Nightbooks by J.A. White. This is a middle-grade book, which I started a few months ago, but I haven’t finished it yet because it was too creepy to read at night.
Skeleton – A Character You Have a Bone to Pick With
The first character that came to mind for this question was Lesley from the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. I don’t want to spoil anything, but some of her choices later in the series were very questionable.
Mummy – A Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time
I would preserve The Hating Game by Sally Thorne throughout time. I love this book so much; thinking about it brings me joy, and I would definitely preserve it forever.
Creepy Doll – A Cover Too Scary to Look At
I don’t really read scary books, so I can’t think of any covers that are too scary to look at for this question.
