Today is Thursday, which makes it the perfect day for a book tag. This week, in honour of Valentine’s Day, I’m doing the Romance Reader Book Tag. I found this tag on Jen Rose Writes, which is a blog you definitely need to follow if you aren’t already.
What age did you start reading romance novels?
I read a lot of novels that featured some sort of romance in High School, but I was 25 when I picked up my first “found in the romance section of the bookstore” novel and I have been hooked since then.
If you could pick one hero to meet from your favourite romance novels who would it be and why?
Joshua Templeman, need I say more? The Hating Game was the first adult romance novel that I read, I adore the two main characters, and I want to be best friends with them.
Who are your favourite romance authors and why?
Since my TBR is out of control, there aren’t a lot of romance authors that I’ve read more than once, even though I have all of their books sitting on my shelves. I really like Beth O’Leary, I thought The Flatshare was a great book and all of her other books sound fantastic. I also really like Sarah Hogle, You Deserve Each Other is one of my favourite books and I thought it was so much fun. I also really like the Renaissance Faire thing that Jen DeLuca has going on with her Well Met series and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
What is a favourite romance novel to re-read?
What book would you recommend to a non-romance reader?
This is a tough question because even though I really enjoy romance novels, I feel like I’ve mostly just read the super popular ones which makes me less than ideal for making recommendations. I think I would ask a non-romance reader what they usually read and then go from there trying to find a recommendation in their preferred genre with a heavy on the romance subplot.
Which is your favourite: contemporary, suspense, or historical and why?
Definitely contemporary romance, partly because they’re super quick to read and partly because contemporary is generally my genre of choice. I’m generally not into thrillers or suspenseful things. I’ve read a few historical romance novels, and I enjoy them, but they usually take me a while to get through.
