Hello everyone!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, and it’s now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their wonderful blog to get the details and the prompts for each week!

This week’s Top 5 Tuesday is Books About a Birth. This topic was hard to write about, it might have been more difficult than some of the scavenger hunt prompts from last month. Most of the books I was able to come up with aren’t necessarily about a birth, but they do involve a baby being born at some point in the story, which is close enough.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman – This was the first book I thought of when I saw this prompt because it’s about the end of the world, the birth of the antichrist, and the antichrist somehow being misplaced. I love this book and I really ought to squeeze in a reread sometime soon. I should also consider getting around to watching the television adaptation for it, but everyone knows that I am terrible at watching TV.

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This book chronicles the history of the fictional band Daisy Jones and the Six. Most of the book is about life on the road, issues between band members, and everything that led to the band’s sudden break-up. One of the ongoing stories throughout the book is Billy and his wife Camila and their growing family. It’s a bit of a stretch to say that this book is about a birth, but if I remember correctly, they have three children in this book.

The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion – My memory of what happens in this book is a little bit hazy because I read it a long time ago. This second book in the trilogy features the main character preparing and learning how to be a father because he has found out that Rosie is pregnant. I don’t remember much else from this book, but I do remember thinking it was an unnecessary sequel and I wasn’t a huge fan of it.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman – This is another one where my memory is a bit hazy because I read this book a long time ago. In this book, Ove’s neighbour, Parvaneh is very pregnant and she eventually has her baby. I don’t remember if she has the baby towards the beginning, middle, or the end of this book and I also don’t remember how big of a plot point it is, but it works for this prompt. This also reminds me that I want to reread this book at some point because all I remember is that I really enjoyed it.

The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón – I don’t want to say too much for this one because I don’t want to spoil anything. What I will say is that one of the characters in this book gets pregnant and has a baby. It’s not a major plot point, but it is still quite significant to the story.
