Meet the Book Blogger 2.0 Tag

Meet the blogger tag banner

Hello Everyone!

Today is Thursday, which means it’s tag day! Today I’m doing the Meet the Book Blogger 2.0 Tag, which I was tagged to do by the very lovely Kerri. I think I’ve done a meet the blogger type tag before, but these questions are different and they were a lot of fun to answer. I’m tagging anyone who wants to join in on this tag!

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who tagged you (Thank you, Kerri!)
  • Mention the creator Lauren @ Lala’s Book Reviews
  • Tag as many (or as few) people as you’d like
  • Have fun and get to know one another!

Introduce yourself!

Hello! I’m Ashlee. I am 28, I work as a legal assistant at a Family Law Firm, and I really like books. Most of my hobbies are bookish, like reading, book hoarding, and blogging. I’m a big fan of tea and wine and I think dark chocolate is superior.

Something most everyone wants to know…do you have any pets?

Yes, I do! I have a black and white cat named Scamper. Scamper is 18 years old, but he acts much younger than that. He is a brat and I love him.

What is your favourite thing to drink?

Depends on the time of day. First thing in the morning, black tea; late morning and in the afternoon, green tea; in the evening, I like herbal tea or white wine.

What is your favourite season?

Definitely Autumn. I like cozy things and I think autumn is very cozy. The return of cozy sweaters, cooler weather, and all of the colours as the leaves start to change.

Do you have any special talents?

lol, no, unless procrastinating is a special talent.

Blogging

When and why did you start your blog?

I started my blog in 2017 because I had it in my mind that if I was going to have a bookstagram, I needed a blog. Between 2017 and 2019, I posted occasionally, but I didn’t really get into it until 2020 when I was laid off because of the pandemic. I started my blog and bookstagram because I like books and I wanted to connect with other people who liked books.

What is something that you wish you knew about blogging when you first started?

I wish I knew that the only thing that mattered was if I was enjoying it. I spent too much time at the beginning worrying about numbers and getting discouraged by stats and whatnot. Now that I put my enjoyment first, it’s a lot more fun and way less stressful.

What has been the hardest part about blogging?

Finding a schedule that works for me, both with what I post when and when I sit down to write my posts.

What has been the most rewarding part of blogging?

Meeting people, making friends, and discovering new books and authors.

Do you write your posts ahead of time or write them the day of posting?

My blogging process is a bit chaotic. In my email, I have dozens of drafts where I make notes while I’m at work for blog posts. In the evenings, when I’m home from work, I go through my notes and turn them into an actual post. I try to schedule everything the night before instead of drafting and posting the day of.

Reading:

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

In no particular order: Ben Aaronovitch, Agatha Christie, B.B. Alston, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Jen DeLuca.

What genre do you read the most?

I think it’s a tie between Romance and Middle-Grade fantasy.

What genre surprised you by how much you love it?

I’m surprised by how much I like middle-grade fantasy books. Fantasy really isn’t my genre, but I like how middle-grade fantasy involves a lot of adventure and I like adventures.

Which popular book didn’t live up to the hype for you?

Since fantasy generally isn’t my thing, I tend to avoid a lot of the super popular books. But, if I have to name a book or two, I’d say Frankly in Love by David Yoon and One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston.

Who are some popular authors you haven’t read?

I haven’t read anything by Cassandra Clare, and I don’t think I ever will. I haven’t read anything by Talia Hibbert and Helen Hoang, though I’m hoping to read some of their books this year.

What upcoming release are you excited to read?

I am very excited to read Amari and the Great Game by B.B. Alston when it comes out later this year!

Do you listen to music while reading?

I don’t listen to music while reading, I find that I get too distracted.

Where else can we find you online?

I have all of my links at the bottom of this post!
