Hello Everyone!
It’s almost May, which means it’s time for the May reading prompts for the TBR Tackle Challenge!
If you aren’t familiar with the TBR Tackle Challenge, it’s a reading challenge that I co-host with from.TBR.to.READ, theartsy_bookworm88, and hplreads. The goal of the challenge is to read the books that you already own and to “tackle your TBR.” Every month we post five prompts to help you decide what books to read from your TBR. You can find out more information on Instagram, and if you have any questions, please let me know!
We had a lot of fun coming up with the prompts for this month and we hope you enjoy them! Make sure to tag us in any posts on Instagram so we can see what you’re reading.
Here are the May prompts!
Green, White, or Red Book
May 5th is Cinco De Mayo and in honour of this, we want you to read a book with green, white, or red on the cover. It can have a lot or a little of any of these colours to be used for this prompt.
Science Fiction
May has a lot of space/science fiction-based holidays. On May 4th, we celebrate Star Wars Day, May 6th is National Space Day, and most importantly, May 25th is Towel Day which honours Douglas Adams and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In honour of all of these space/science fiction-based holidays, we want you to pick up some science fiction this month.
Book with a Mother Figure
In Canada and the USA, Mother’s Day is on May 8th this year. In honour of this, we want you to read a book that features a mother figure. This can be a character who is a mother, or a character who acts like a mother (for example the “mom friend” in a friend group).
Asian or Jewish Author
In Canada, and possibly other countries, May is both Asian Heritage Month and Jewish Heritage Month. In honour of this, we want you to read a book written by an Asian author or a Jewish author this month.
Flowers on the Cover
As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, and we want you to find a book with flowers on the cover to read this month.
If you have any questions about any of the prompts, let me know! Happy TBR Tackling!
