May Hopefuls

May Hopefuls 2022 Banner

Hello Everyone!

This year is flying by and these hopeful posts keep sneaking up on me. I’m having a hard time believing it’s already May and we’re quickly approaching the mid-year freakout portion of the year.

Last month was a good reading month, and I tried to focus on the books on my NetGalley shelves. This month, I still want to focus on ARCs, but I have some other books that I picked for the TBR Tackle Challenge that I’m looking forward to getting to as well.

If you’re looking to get your TBR under control this year, check out the TBR Tackle Challenge on Instagram, and if you’re curious about the May prompts, you can read my post about them here!

Skandar and the Unicorn Thief by A.J. SteadmanThis is my current read and I am loving it so far. It’s full of unicorns and danger and I am hooked. I’m hoping to finish reading it this weekend, so hopefully, I’ll have a review up soon.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of Skandar and the Unicorn Thief from Amazon* here.

Café Con Lychee by Emery Lee – I received an ARC of this book from Harper Collins and though I don’t think I’ll get it in before the release date, it’s near the top of my May TBR. This book promises food and romance, which are two of my favourite things.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of Café Con Lychee from Amazon* here.

Murder in the Mews by Agatha Christie – This is the next book in my mission to read all of the Poirot books. I’m not really sure what this one is about, except I know that it’s actually four short stories instead of a novel. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the last Poirot short story collection that I read, but I’m still looking forward to reading this one. This is also my pick for the Red, White, or Green on the Cover prompt for the TBR Tackle Challenge.

Ghost Squad by Claribel A. Ortega – This is the May book of the month for the Middle-Grade Marvels book club and I am so excited to read it. This book has been sitting on my shelf for a while and it looks so good. The book promises action-packed supernatural fantasy and I can’t wait to see what that will entail. This is also my pick for the Book With a Mother Figure prompt for the TBR Tackle Challenge.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of Ghost Squad from Amazon* here.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo – This book is the next pick for the mini book club that I host for some of my friends. The theme was food and I’m looking forward to reading this one. In general, I’m a fan of books that feature food and cooking, and this one sounds amazing. It’s also been sitting on my shelf for a while, so I’m looking forward to checking another book off of my neverending TBR. This is also my pick for the Flowers on the Cover prompt for the TBR Tackle Challenge.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of With the Fire on High from Amazon* here.

The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary – This is a buddy read that my friend and I are hoping to squeeze in this month. I enjoyed The Flatshare and I’ve been wanting to read more books by Beth O’Leary. This book looks like a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to chatting about it with my friend.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of The Road Trip from Amazon* here.

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto – I really enjoyed reading Dial A For Aunties last year and I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since it was released at the end of March. I have no idea what kind of trouble the aunties will get themselves into in this book, but I know it’ll be laugh-out-loud funny. This book is also my pick for the Asian or Jewish Author prompt for the TBR Tackle Challenge.

If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy of Four Aunties and a Wedding from Amazon* here.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry – This is the May book club pick for one of the book clubs I’m in. This will be my first time reading Emily Henry, and I’m a little bit nervous because there’s so much hype around her books. I am looking forward to reading this though because it’s a bookish romance.
