Hello everyone!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, and it’s now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their wonderful blog to get the details and the prompts for each week!

In May, all of the Top 5 Tuesday topics are about reading environments. This week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is Top 5 Places to Read. This was a fun topic to write about, and I enjoyed thinking about all of the different places I like to read.

My Bed – Up first on my list of favourite places to read is my bed! I like reading before going to sleep, so reading in bed is my natural first choice. I like waking up early on Saturdays, making a cup of tea, and then crawling back into bed and reading for a bit before actually starting my day. I also like reading in bed because my cat usually visits me, and cats are the best.

Outside in the Sun – When the weather is nice, I like to read outside in the sun. Every year for the past few years, I’ve planted a bunch of flowers in my backyard, and it’s nice to sit outside and enjoy them. I also like the people-watching opportunities that come with reading outside. The only major downside to reading outside is the bugs.

The Kitchen Table – This is a bit of an unusual choice, but I find that I enjoy reading at the kitchen table. I usually do this when I don’t have a ton of time to read, like if I’m cooking or if I have to leave for work soon. It’s also a nice spot to read because it’s near the fridge and the kettle and snacks and tea are important.

At Work – This is another unusual option, but I like trying to sneak in a few pages at work. This works best when I’m reading on my Kindle, but I sometimes sneak a few pages in with a paperback. It usually happens when I’m on lunch or on a slow day, and my boss leaves early or is tied up with a client.

The Couch – Last but not least is the couch. I don’t usually choose the couch as a reading place because my dad usually has the tv on, which makes it difficult to focus. However, sometimes when the living room is quiet, it’s nice to curl up on the couch and read for a bit. It’s also nice to read on the couch because depending on what blanket is nearby, sometimes Scamper will come and join me.

  1. I think I’m definitely unusual in that I don’t really like reading in bed. I’m definitely a couch or comfy chair reader.

  2. Cats ARE the best, and snacks and tea are HIGHLY important. Our dining chairs aren’t very comfy, so you won’t find me reading in the kitchen, unless I’m reading while standing and making tea!!
