T5T Historical Fiction TBR Banner

Hello everyone!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Bionic Bookworm, and it’s now hosted by Meeghan Reads. If you’re interested in participating, check out their wonderful blog to get the details and the prompts for each week!

In May, all of the Top 5 Tuesday topics are about reading environments. This week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is Top 5 Reading Accessories. This topic was deceptive. At first, I thought it would be easy, but it took me a bit to think of five items to include on the list.

Since May has five Tuesdays in it, this week is a freebie week for Top 5 Tuesday! It took me a while to decide what I wanted to write about this week, but then one of the book clubs I’m in picked The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah as the June book of the month, and everything fell into place. Historical Fiction is a genre that I really enjoy, but I don’t pick up very often, and there are lots of books that fall into this genre that I want to read. Here are five of the ones that I want to read.

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – A lot of Kate Quinn books intrigue me, but this is the one I’m most interested in reading. The Rose Code is about three women who worked at Bletchley Park during World War Two. The women become close but are torn apart, only to come together again to solve one final mystery after the War. This book promises mystery and danger, and I’m looking forward to reading it at some point.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah – This is another book set during World War Two that I’m hoping to read soon. This book follows two sisters in France whose lives take completely different paths during the War, hoping to survive. I’ve heard great things about it, and my friend has been recommending that I read it for years now.

Bluebird by Genevieve Graham – I’ve talked about this book before, but I am very excited to read this one. Bluebird takes place in World War One and the period afterwards, and then it flips to the present day. What makes me excited for this book is that part of it takes place in Windsor, Ontario, which is where I’m from. Windsor has a rich history tied to prohibition and rumrunning, and I’m looking forward to reading about it in this book.

The Girl Behind the Wall by Mandy Robotham – I’ve been wanting to read more by Mandy Robotham since I read The Berlin Girl a while back. I have a few Mandy Robotham books, but The Girl Behind the Wall is the one I’m most looking forward to reading. This book follows two sisters who end up separated when the Berlin Wall goes up. The sisters live parallel lives for years, completely separated by the Wall. Finally, the sisters find a chance to reunite, but decisions have to be made that will change their lives forever.

The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles – This is a book about books, which is something that I always appreciate. This book takes place in Paris during World War Two and in Montana in the 1980s. This book deals with the French Resistance and everything that came after that. I’m looking forward to seeing how the dual timelines will work in this book. I’m also looking forward to reading it because my friend read it earlier this year and she really enjoyed it.
