This week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is Top 5 Books Set at School. This topic ended up being a bit more difficult than I thought it would be because I seem to have forgotten most books that I’ve read that take place at a school. I know I’ve read a lot of them, but for some reason, I blanked for a while on this one.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson – Truly Devious is probably my favourite book that takes place at a school because it’s one of my favourite books in general. This book takes place at Ellingham Academy, a private school in Vermont. The school itself has quite a history, and it was the center of a famous unsolved crime shortly after it opened. This book is a lot of fun, it has amazing characters, and I wouldn’t mind rereading it sometime soon.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – This book takes place at the University of Nebraska, and it features a very relatable main character. The first time I read Fangirl was when I was in University, and I found Cath to be super relatable and it was nice to see someone that I could relate to so much on the page. The relationship in this book is cute, and I also like how it deals with mental health.
Undercover Princess by Connie Glynn – I read this book earlier this year and I loved it. This book takes place at the very prestigious Rosewood Hall and it a certain kind of magic about it. The main characters are great, and the book gave me The Princess Diaries vibes. At some point, I need to read the rest of the series because I want to know what’s next for Lottie, Ellie, and Jamie.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood – This book takes place at Stanford University and I definitely understand why this book is so hyped. This book features Adam, a professor at Stanford, Olive a Ph.D. candidate, and fake dating. This book is a lot of fun, it has a decent amount of spice in it, and it’s cute. There were a few things that I wasn’t a fan of, but overall, it was a pretty decent read.
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro – This book takes place at a boarding school in Connecticut, and it stars the most recent generation of Sherlock Holmes and Watson. As a big Sherlock Holmes fan, I loved this book. I liked the characters, I liked the mystery, and I liked the references to Sherlock Holmes books. This is another series that I’d like to reread at some point because I really did enjoy it.
