The September Top 5 Tuesday topics are a lot of fun. They’re a bit different from the usual topics, but I’m looking forward to having some fun this month. This week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is Top 5 Ways to Catch a Bookworm. The idea behind this topic is that everyone needs a bookworm in their life, but how do you catch one?
Set Up a Cozy Trap – Bookworms are always looking for cozy places to read, therefore, one option to catch a bookworm is to set up a cozy trap for them. I know that I am drawn to comfy spots, nice blankets, and places with a nice indirect light for reading. If there’s a little table next to the comfy spot to set a cup of tea or some snacks on, it’s basically perfect.
With Books – Really, this should have been the first item on my list, but cozy blankets are very distracting. The best way to catch a bookworm is to lure them with books. The idea of adding to the never-ending TBR is irresistible, so books are an excellent way to lure a bookworm. Special or pretty editions of books is another great way to catch a bookworm.
Owning Books – This is related to the previous point on the list. When I go somewhere, I’m always keeping an eye out for books. Whether it’s bookshelves or a single book sitting on an end table. Having bookshelves or books out is a great conversation starter, and if you can get a bookworm talking about books, they’ll probably be talking for a while.
Showing Interest in Books – You don’t have to be a bookworm to catch a bookworm, but it helps if you show some interest in books. Bookworms like talking about books, and it helps if you can show interest in what they’re talking about. Generally, showing interest in what people are interested in is a good way to maintain relationships, so asking a bookworm about what they’re reading or another bookish question is a great way to catch a bookworm.
By Not Judging Them – This isn’t so much a way to catch a bookworm, but it’s a way to keep a bookworm in your life. Most bookworms that I know have never-ending TBRs and they don’t want to be judged for them. They also don’t want to be judged for the roller coaster of emotions that they feel when they’re reading. Let the bookworm be a bookworm, and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to have them stay in your life.
