Happy first day of autumn everyone!
Since today is the first day of autumn, I thought it would be fitting to do an autumn themed book tag. I did this tag way back in 2018 when I was a baby book blogger and I thought it would be fun to do it again now that my tastes have evolved a bit. I’m not going to tag anyone specific in this tag, so if you see this, consider yourself tagged!
What is your favourite thing about autumn?
My favourite thing about autumn is the return of sweater weather and being cozy in general. I love sundresses and I take full advantage of sundress season when it’s warm out, but sweater weather is where it’s at. Give me all of the cozy, oversized, knit sweaters and I will be incredibly happy.
What book reminds you of your school days?
For some reason, this question brought me back to University and it made me think of 1984 by George Orwell. I don’t like dystopian books and I wasn’t a fan of 1984, but I remember in my first year of university the English class I was in was discussing 1984, one of my history classes was discussing Russia in World War Two, and another class was discussing authoritarian regimes and it was a very rough week for me.
What cover reminds you of autumn?
The cover of Still Life by Louise Penny reminds me of autumn. There’s a special anniversary edition of this book that’s mostly orange and it screams autumn to me. It also helps that this book takes place around Thanksgiving.
What is your favourite horror or Halloween story?
As many of you know, I don’t really do horror because I am a scaredy cat. If I have to pick a favourite horror or Halloween story, my default choice is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman because it’s creepy but not too creepy.
What is your favourite horror or Halloween film?
I also tend to avoid horror and Halloween films, so this is a tricky question to answer. The one horror/Halloween film that stands out in my mind is Coraline, which is somehow even creepier than the book.
What autumn book release are you looking forward to?
Even though I haven’t read The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson yet, I’m looking forward to reading Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson. I like Stevie and all of the characters from Truly Devious and I will gladly follow them on any and all adventures.
What autumn movie release are you anticipating?
I am so completely unaware of what films are coming out right now, so I have no idea how to answer this question. I will say though that I’m looking forward to the new Criminal Minds series that’s supposed to be coming sometime soon.
What are the three books you plan to read this autumn?
