Hello Everyone!
I am happy to announce that the TBR Tackle Challenge will be continuing into 2023 and that the January prompts are here!
If you’re new to the TBR Tackle Challenge, it’s a reading challenge that I co-host with from.TBR.to.READ, theartsy_bookworm88, and hplreads. The goal of the challenge is to read the books that you already own and to “tackle your TBR.” Every month, we post five prompts to help you decide what books to read from your existing TBR. You can use the same book for multiple prompts, and you don’t have to pick books for all of the prompts if you don’t want to. The TBR Tackle Challenge started on Instagram, but our goal for this year is to move away from Instagram and expand to other platforms like Twitter, Goodreads, and Storygraph.
If you have any questions about the TBR Tackle Challenge, please let me know!
Here are the prompts for January!
Starts with A or B
We’ve noticed that a lot of people try to do an alphabet challenge of some sort each year with their reading, and we decided that we wanted to jump in on that fun. This month, we’re starting with the beginning of the alphabet, and we want you to read a book that starts with either the letter “A” or “B”. It’s up to you how you treat titles that start with “The” or “A”.
New Beginning
January marks the beginning of the year, which makes it a new beginning of sorts. To celebrate the new year, read a book about a new beginning. This can be someone moving to a new city, starting a new career, starting at a new school, entering into a new relationship, or entering a new stage of their life. This prompt can be interpreted in a bunch of ways and we’re looking forward to seeing what you pick for it.
Sports
This prompt is inspired by all of the hockey that has been on my television lately. I’m generally not a big sports person, but I think this prompt could be fun. The book doesn’t necessarily have to be sports focused for this prompt, as long as there’s some sort of sports element involved. You can also define sports however you’d like for this prompt, and it could include things like horseback riding or chess or unicorn racing.
Blue Cover
January is a blue month and makes it the perfect month to pick up a book with a blue cover. As long as there is some blue on the cover, you can use it for this prompt.
Book You’ve Been Putting Off
I find that January is the month where I have a ton of bookish energy and I’m convinced that I will finally get the TBR under control. To honour this bookish energy, pick up a book you’ve been putting off.
