Hello everyone!

Today is Thursday, which means it’s book tag day! Today, I’m doing the Characters of the Year Tag. I like to do this tag every year because it’s a good opportunity to look back at everything I read and to think about all of the characters I encountered. I’m trying to be good this year and I’m only picking one character or book for each question, which made this tag quite difficult since I read a lot of wonderful books in 2022.

Favourite Male Character of The Year

My favourite male character of the year was Aaron Blackford from The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas. Aaron Blackford is similar to Joshua Templeman from The Hating Game, so it doesn’t surprise me that I have grown very fond of him.

Favourite Female Character of The Year

This is a tough one, but I think my favourite female character of the year was Joyce from The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. She brought me a lot of joy, I loved her journal entries and how excited she was about being included and involved with a murder investigation. I’m looking forward to reading The Man Who Died Twice this year so I can have more Joyce in my life.

Most Relatable Character of The Year

I thought that Mika Moon from The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna was very relatable because she loved tea. I loved that she had a tea for everything and that she thought a cup of tea could fix anything.

Couple of The Year

Unsurprisingly, my couple of the year is Lina and Aaron from The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas.

Villain of The Year

The first villain that came to mind for this question was Father Winter from The Miraculous Sweetmakers: The Frost Fair by Natasha Hastings. I thought Father Winter was very sinister and some of his creations were quite frightening.

Most Disliked Character of The Year

I wasn’t a big fan of any of the characters in White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson and I especially disliked the main character’s step-sister, Piper.

Royal of The Year

My pick for royal of the year is Ellie Wolf from Undercover Princess by Connie Glynn. Ellie is the crown princess of Maradova and I love that she wants to hide from the spotlight. This was one of my favourite books of the year and I’m hoping to read the rest of the series sometime this year.

Sidekick/Non-Main Character of The Year

For this one, I’m going to cheat a bit and pick a group of characters. I loved the guardians from The Midnight Guardians by Ross Montgomery. I loved the banter between them and I thought they made the adventure very fun.

Siblings of The Year

I think my favourite set of siblings of 2022 are the Penhallow Brothers from The Ex Hex series by Erin Stering. I enjoyed getting to know Rhys and Wells and I am looking forward to getting my hands on Bowen’s story later this year.
