Hello Everyone!
It’s Thursday, which means it’s book tag day! I found this tag on Pages and Tea and it looked like the perfect tag to squeeze in in January. This tag was created by Lynn’s Books and it is based on some of the common resolutions that people come up with this time of year.
I’m not tagging anyone specific in this one because we’re so close to the end of January, so if you’re looking for a tag to do, consider yourself tagged!
Exercise more: This is a book that is a real chunkster, in fact you will need help to even pick this book up:
The Winners by Fredrik Backman is 671 pages, which is almost double the size of what I normally pick up. I’m hoping that I’ll get to this book this year because I’m determined to finish this trilogy this year.
Lose weight: A book that is not a chunkster; a short story or novella. A book you could probably read in one sitting:
The first books that came to mind for this question are the novellas in the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. When I finally get around to reading What Abigail Did That Summer I’m sure I’ll be able to read it in one sitting.
Eat healthy: A book that is good for you. This is a book that made you feel so happy that you wanted to give it a big hug:
The last book that brought me an overwhelming amount of joy was Exes and O’s by Amy Lea. It was cute and it made me laugh. I’m a sucker for cute romances and this one was definitely enjoyable.
Fulfill your ambitions: A book that has a lot going on. Plenty of different threads, points of views and action but everything eventually comes together in a very satisfactory fashion:
The last book I read that had a lot going on was The Enigma of Room 622 by Joël Dicker. This book had multiple timelines and multiple perspectives. Everything did come together at the end, however, I wasn’t a big fan of this book so I don’t want to call the ending satisfactory.
Spend more time with the family: A series of books that you love and that has developed more than you ever anticipated:
I love the Truly Devious series by Maureen Johnson. The original trilogy are some of my favourite books and I love that the author has been releasing standalone books that take place after the original trilogy. I still haven’t read The Box in the Woods or Nine Lives yet, but I’m looking forward to getting to them at some point.
Tick off an item from your bucket list: Reduce the TBR. Choose a book from Mount TBR that you would like to read this year:
I really like the phrase Mount TBR, it’s definitely fitting for my current TBR situation. I’m going to pick Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston so I can finally finish that trilogy.
Save money: A book that was an absolute bargain – you would have to be crazy in fact not to have bought this book:
I check the kindle deals of the day on a daily basis and the last title I was really excited about was The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean being on sale for $2.99.
Get Organised: A book with a glossary, maps, useful words, lists of people – this book is one helpful book, it wants you to know ALL the things and it’s not afraid to use footnotes and other devices to help you do so:
I struggled to think of a book for this question, but after some investigating I remembered that The Hidden King by E.G. Radcliff had a glossary, a pronunciation guide, and a link to a map of the world.
Start a new hobby: A book that is outside your comfort zone. Perhaps everyone was raving about this book, maybe it was over-hyped, you hesitated to pick it up in fact, but when you did – you loved it:
This is a tough question because I tend to stay in my comfort zone. I know what genres I like and I try to stay away from things I know I’m not going to be a fan of. Usually when I do pick up a book that’s a bit outside of my comfort zone for something like a blog tour, it gets a “meh, that was okay but it’s not my thing” kind of rating.

This is a fun tag. I like your ‘resolutions’ for this year 😃
Love this tag, and mount TBR sounds about right for my out of control pile too😂
The Enigma of Room 622 is one I’ve been interested in reading, what made you not a fan if it?
I started the Rivers of London series absolutely ages ago but didn’t carry on with it for some reason. I remember enjoying the ones I did read though.
Thanks for the mention 😀
