January Wrap-Up

Hello Everyone!

How is everyone doing today? I’ve finally managed to find the time and energy to throw together a January wrap-up post.

January started off as an excellent reading month for me, but it went downhill the last week when I got a cold that is still lingering around just enough to be annoying.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a proper monthly wrap-up post, but my plan for formatting these going forward is having a section for Stats, Books Read, Books Purchased, and a NetGalley section.

In total, I managed to finish 7 books in January and it looks like I read 2607 pages.

Of those 7 books, 4 of them were mysteries/thrillers, 2 were romance, and 1 was historical fiction.

Six of the books I finished fell into the adult age category and one was young adult.

As far as format goes, I read 4 physical books and 3 ebooks.

Three of the books I read were on my backlist, one was a reread, two were new purchases, and one book was for a blog tour.

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This was a great book to start the year off with. It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022 and I quite enjoyed it. If you’re interested, here’s my review of Carrie Soto is Back. I rated this one 4 stars.

Exes and O’s by Amy Lea – I wasn’t planning on reading this book in January, but I’m glad I did. This book was cute, and it made me laugh. I’m looking forward to checking out Set On You sometime soon. If you’re interested, here’s my review of Exes and O’s. I rated this one 4.5 stars.

Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney – This was a buddy read with some of the members of the TWR gang. This book was full of twists and turns, and even though I didn’t love the ending, I still enjoyed the book. If you’re interested, here’s my review of Daisy Darker. I rated this one 3.5 stars.

Single and Ready to Jingle by Piper Rayne – This was the January pick for one of the book clubs I’m in. This was a fun book, but there were quite a few things that annoyed me about it. I rated this one 2.5 stars.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson – This was a reread for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the main character and the mystery. I was hoping to read the rest of the trilogy in January, but that’s now been bumped to February. I rated this one 4.5 stars.

Irex by Carl Rackman – This book was for a blog tour hosted by The Write Reads. I enjoyed this historical mystery and it made me want to do some research about the time period. If you’re interested, here’s my review of Irex. I rated this one 3.5 stars.

Sad Cypress by Agatha Christie – As you may know, I’m currently working my way through all of the Poirot books. I really enjoyed this one and I loved the twist at the end. I rated this one 3.5 stars.

To the best of my recollection, I had five physical books arrive in January. These books are:

The first two books somehow managed to end up in my basket when I was buying my boyfriend his birthday present from Book Outlet. Books three and four are also from Book Outlet and I’m planning on buddy reading them this month. Under the Whispering Door is the paperback edition, and it was a preorder that I’m looking forward to reading.

I don’t want to talk about ebooks I purchased this month because they’re out of sight and that’s a future me problem.

January was an uneventful month on NetGalley for me.

I started the month with a 50% feedback ratio and I ended with a 50% feedback ratio.

I started the month with 76 unread books and I ended the month with 76 unread books.

Fingers crossed that those numbers improve in February.
