Even the great detective Hercule Poirot harbored a deep and abiding fear of the dentist, so it was with some trepidation that he arrived at the celebrated Dr. Morley’s surgery for a dental examination. But what neither of them knew was that only hours later Poirot would be back to examine the dentist, found dead in his own surgery.
Turning to the other patients for answers, Poirot finds other, darker, questions.…
In this Poirot story, our favourite Belgian detective goes to the dentist. Hours later, Dr. Morley is dead and the question is, was it suicide or murder?
While I enjoyed this book because it featured Poirot and Inspector Japp, I also wasn’t a huge fan of this one. As I work my way through all of the Poirot books, I’ve run into a few titles that have government conspiracy theories as a plot point and I haven’t been a fan of them. One, Two, Buckle My Shoe also involves a conspiracy theory and it was too much to handle.
On a positive note, this book did have some interesting twists and turns and there were a few clever moments that kept me guessing. There were also some clues that left me guessing until the end. I also enjoyed how determined Poirot was in this book and how flabbergasted Inspector Japp was at times.
