The Firsts of 2023 Book Tag

Hello Everyone!

Today is Thursday, which makes it a book tag day! I saw this tag on Celeste’s Blog and it looked like a perfect and short book tag to do. It looks like this tag was originally created by Tanya from girlxoxo.

Like usual, I’m not tagging anyone specific in this one, so if you’re looking for a tag to do, consider yourself tagged!

First Book Read This Year

The first book I read this year was Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my favourite authors, so this was a great book to start the year off with.

First Book Reviewed

It looks like the first book I reviewed this year was Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. If you’re interested, you can read my review here.

First Book By A Debut Author

I think the first 2023 debut I read this year was The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes. This was a book club book and while it was enjoyable enough, it helped me realize that thrillers (as opposed to mysteries) aren’t necessarily my thing.

First Book By A New-To-Me Author

My first new-to-me author of the year was Amy Lea! Exes and O’s was my second read of the year and it’s still one of my top reads of the year.

First Book That Slayed Me

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston slayed me! This book was so good and it made me feel far too many emotions. I was a bit apprehensive going into it because the premise sounded a bit too strange, but it was fantastic and I cannot recommend it enough.

First Book That I Wish I Could Get Back The Time I Spent Reading It

Unpopular opinion, but I wish I could get back the time I spent reading Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. I wanted to like this book, but it was a struggle to get through. While I appreciated what the author was trying to do, there was just too much talk about book Twitter discourse and it ruined the book for me.
