Do you prefer to read standalone or series books?

Unsurprisingly, I prefer standalones over series. I’m really bad at keeping up with series and a lot of the time, my memory isn’t good enough to remember what happened in the previous book by the time I pick up the next book. While I like the idea of revisiting familiar settings and characters, I find standalones to be more manageable. One thing that I love though is romance “series” where each book can be read as a standalone but they all focus on a different character and their happily ever after.
